Itinerary
We begin our journey to the Sacred Valley early at 7:30 a.m., picking up passengers from their hotels. Our first stop is the Pisac Archaeological Center, located just 45 minutes from Cusco.
Pisac, which means "partridge" in Quechua, is a district renowned for its natural beauty and historical significance. Here, we will explore the expansive agricultural terraces and impressive Inca architecture. This site was part of the Qhapaq Ñan, the ancient Inca road network that connected key locations such as Cusco to the Amazon jungle and Manu. Around noon, we will head to Urubamba for a delightful buffet lunch showcasing the best of Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo, a strategically placed archaeological site that served as both a military and religious center during the Inca Empire. Its massive structures and urban design highlight its cultural and historical significance. Here, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes, a charming town where we will spend the night.
In the early morning, we head to the bus station to begin our ascent to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. During the brief 25-minute ride, the excitement builds, as if the mountains themselves are sharing ancient secrets.
Upon reaching Machu Picchu, we will witness a breathtaking sunrise over the ruins. Our guided tour of this architectural and natural wonder begins, where our knowledgeable guide will take us through the captivating history and design of the citadel. Machu Picchu, with its perfect balance of engineering and natural harmony, showcases agricultural terraces, temples, plazas, and aqueducts, all set against the backdrop of towering mountains.
The tour lasts approximately two hours, allowing us to explore every corner and uncover the secrets this historical gem holds. Afterward, we will return to Aguas Calientes by bus for lunch, before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our team will be waiting to bring us back to Cusco, concluding our exciting two-day journey through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
