Humantay Lake – Full-Day High-Andes Trek
Start your adventure with an early morning departure from Cusco as we head toward the picturesque town of Mollepata, where a nourishing breakfast awaits to fuel your day. We then continue our journey to Soraypampa, the trailhead for the Humantay Lake hike.
The trek, which takes approximately two hours, is a moderately challenging ascent through rugged Andean landscapes. As we climb, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of snow-draped peaks and dramatic mountain scenery.
Upon arriving at Humantay Lake, you’ll be greeted by the brilliant turquoise waters set against the majestic backdrop of the Humantay glacier. Take time to relax, take incredible photos, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of this sacred natural site.
Following our visit, we make our way back down to Soraypampa and return to Mollepata, where a delicious lunch will be served. We then continue our drive back to Cusco, arriving by evening with unforgettable memories of one of the most stunning spots in the Peruvian Andes.
Itinerary
We depart from Cusco early in the morning, heading toward the town of Mollepata, where a warm breakfast awaits to prepare us for the day. We then continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of our hike to Humantay Lake.
The trail, which takes about two hours, involves a steady climb along steep and rocky paths. Though the hike is physically demanding, it is well worth the effort as we pass through stunning mountain scenery and enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes.
Once we arrive at the turquoise waters of Humantay Lake, nourished by glacial melt from the nearby snow-capped peaks, we’ll take time to relax, snap memorable photos, and soak in the peaceful beauty of the high Andes.
After enjoying the lagoon, we make our descent back to Soraypampa. On the return to Cusco, we stop once more in Mollepata for a well-deserved lunch. We arrive back in the city by sunset, bringing with us lasting memories of this unforgettable adventure.
