Explore Maras, Moray and Chinchero – Full-Day Cultural Excursion

Embark on a captivating half-day excursion from Cusco to the Andean highlands, where you will uncover the intriguing sites of Moray,Maras and Chinchero town. The tour commences with a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley, providing breathtaking vistas of rural landscapes and snow-capped peaks.
Our initial destination is the salt mines of Maras, colloquially known as the Salineras. These extensive salt pans cascade down the hillside, having been utilized for centuries. Despite their age, these traditional pools continue to function, producing salt through a natural evaporation process. The landscape is both striking and photogenic, offering a glimpse into the enduring legacy of ancient techniques.
Subsequently, we proceed to Moray, home to a series of remarkable circular agricultural terraces believed to have served as a sophisticated agricultural research center for the Incas. These concentric platforms, which created distinct microclimates, demonstrate the advanced understanding the Incas possessed of farming and environmental adaptation.
Continuing our journey, we arrive at the Misminay community, where we partake in a traditional lunch prepared by local farmers using locally sourced ingredients in one of the community’s houses. Following lunch, we proceed to Chinchero, where we gain insights into the ancient Inca techniques employed in dyeing yarns and crafting exquisite blankets.

After our exploration, we return to Cusco, enriched by the cultural heritage and scenic beauty of this highland experience.
